Petrie Winds
The Petrie Winds all teach at Converse University and perform annually on the college's Faculty Recital Series. They are (L to R) Karen Hill, clarinet; Frank Watson, bassoon; Anneka Zuehlke, horn; Chris Vaneman, flute; and Kelly Vaneman, oboe. Amongst the quintet are degrees from Curtis, Yale, Eastman, and Northwestern; the various quintet members are also members of the Greenville Symphony, the Spartanburg Philharmonic, and the Asheville Symphony.
A recent concert featured a trio of arrangements one wouldn't normally think of as fodder for the wind quintet: Rossini's Overture to Italian in Algiers, Bach's Italian Concerto, and (most raucously) Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
